Four Past Midnight

I’m in lying in a bed,
The outside, dark,
At four past midnight,
You’re nowhere in sight,
Lie next to me, love.
Then I can sleep.

Sleepless minutes,
My eyes open to see you.
To feel you,
Curling beneath the duvet,
Cold, oh the cold,
Without your touch.

I’m in lying in a bed,
The outside, dark,
At four past midnight,
You’re nowhere in sight,
Lie next to me, love.
Then I can sleep.

Minutes to hours,
Light then to dark,
And dark to light again.
I count and I count and I count,
Never short enough,
Never quick enough.

I’m in lying in a bed,
The outside, dark,
At four past midnight,
You’re nowhere in sight,
Lie next to me, love.
Then I can sleep.

Hello everyone,

I want to announce another addition to my Forging #poetry collection called Four Past Midnight on Wattpad and Inkitt. I confess it is a rework of some lyrics I had written when I was younger (and believe, they needed it…), so if you have any critiques or edits you wish to offer to improve my poem, I am open to any feedback.

If you also have any work of your own you would like me to read, just post in the comments below and I will try my level best to do so. I can’t promise I will always do so, but when if I do, I will also try to remember to give you some feedback as well also.

Hope you all enjoy,

Annabel
